What Are People Using CBD For?
One of the most popular aspects of CBD, apart from the fact that it’s a natural substance, is its versatility. It is being used by people around the world to treat a variety of different medical conditions and even the side-effects associated with other medical conditions.
Some of the conditions people are using CBD for are mental health conditions such as anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and schizophrenia, eating disorders, arthritis, epilepsy, inflammation, seizures, pain relief, and nausea.
According to a study published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, the most popular uses for CBD are vomiting and nausea, inflammation, epilepsy and seizures, and anxiety and stress.
CBD has been proven to treat pain, inflammation, and arthritis symptoms. It’s also not addictive, unlike traditional pharmaceutical medications. There is also some anecdotal evidence which suggests that CBD could be effective in helping people suffering from opioid addictions. This is extremely important as all around the world; many governments are struggling to come up with solutions to the looming opioid addiction crisis.
CBD for the Treatment of Chronic Pain
A study which was published in 2012 in the Journal of Experimental Medicine showed that CBD could be a massive jump forward in the treatment of chronic pain. This is especially important for people who have Multiple Sclerosis (MS). CBD works by preventing neuronal transmission in the body’s pain pathways. What does that mean? Basically, it stops the messages getting through to your brain that something is wrong. These messages are great if you burn yourself on a hot pan, but when you suffer from chronic pain, it can consume your life.

CBD for the Treatment of Depression and Anxiety
Currently, mental health conditions, such as anxiety and depression, are plaguing people around the world. The traditional fix for anxiety and depression would be pharmaceutical opioid medications. The problem with opioid-based medications is that they are highly addictive.
CBD is proving to be an effective alternative which doesn’t have any addiction issues. A 2011 study found that people suffering from public speaking issues and public anxiety were given CBD. Half of the group were given a placebo, while the other half received CBD. Those that got the placebo suffered from high levels of anxiety, while those given CBD saw all their anxiety symptoms significantly reduced.
Another study that was published in the Brazilian Journal of Psychiatry found that CBD could be an effective treatment for people who have panic disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
CBD for the Treatment of Arthritis
According to Arthritis Org, arthritis is the leading cause of disability across the United States, affecting over 50 million Americans. The two most common forms of arthritis are Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid arthritis.
Currently, most studies into CBD and its pain and inflammation have been conducted on animals, but it’s a great first step towards getting relief for those who have arthritis.
A 2011 study found that CBD helped to reduce the inflammation and pain in rats by affecting how the pain receptors in the body responded to different stimuli.
Another study that was published in 2016 found that topical applications of CBD could potentially reduce and relieve the pain which is associated with arthritis.
